For the New Year of 2015, I chose three words I wanted to focus on during 2015. Now that we’ve reached (and passed!) the half-way point of 2015, I thought it might be worth a look back at those words: writing, journalling, and spirit.
Although you wouldn’t know it from reading this blog, I’ve been doing plenty of writing, but most of it has been off-line. When I can, I’ll say more about that project! Journalling fell by the wayside as the concussion receded and life became busy again, particularly now that I have a new full-time job. I would like to get back into that one.
The final word, spirit, is harder to quantify. In many ways it’s held true as well, just in a strange form. Playing the horn again has proved a confusing, if rewarding experience, so far, and it’s definitely been something of a spiritual pursuit in that playing it again touches me deeply. It still strikes me with how deeply engrained it has been, how much the muscle memory comes back, even if the fingers and lip can’t quite cut it yet. So I persevere: but more on that in other posts.
